A Great Place to Record Podcasts

Home Where You Belong Host Chip Alford interviews Hollee Brock during a recording session at the Chattanooga Public Library.

Interviewing guests is my favorite part of producing the Home Where You Belong podcast. I’ve talked with people in their homes, in a church, museum, social club, and via Zoom while sitting in my private recording studio at home. (OK, it’s actually a claustrophobic storage closet with a handful of foam panels stuck on the wall to block out the deafening sound of trains that pass by my house every half hour.)

My favorite place to conduct interviews is The Studio at the Chattanooga Public Library. It’s a great space with great equipment and much better soundproofing. Even better, there’s no cost for using the space and it comes with a helpful audio engineer named Sam who’s always willing to share his knowledge. I’ve recorded several episodes in the library’s studio, including my recent interview with Hollee Brock, a creative storyteller from Chattanooga who talked about her experience walking the 500+ mile Camino de Santiago. Her story is featured in Episode 23. Check it out!
