Being at Home Means Living with Integrity

Teacher, coach and speaker Chad Peevy is author of the best-selling book, Break & Untangle: Discover the Freedom to Be You Despite the Inherited Mindsets Holding You Back.

For best-selling author, speaker and life coach Chad Peevy, being “at home” means living each day in integrity. Translation: he isn’t putting on a mask that requires him to surround himself with people or things that are only there to reinforce what that mask represents.

“I can show up in my life and just be me and the things and the people in my life reflect that,” Chad explained in my recent interview with him on Home Where You Belong. “If I can experience that, then I’m at home.”

To say I related to much of Chad’s story is an understatement. We both grew up gay and closeted in conservative Christian families in the rural South and struggled to come to terms with our sexual orientation. For Chad, survival became figuring out how to look at things from a perspective that wasn’t dominated by fear and staying small. There came a day when survival was no longer enough. He wanted to thrive.

In Episode 12, I talked with Chad about how overcoming inherited mindsets that no longer serve us can help people experience a true sense of belonging in their home, community, and relationships. You can listen to our conversation here or wherever you stream podcasts.
