A Dozen Episodes Released; More Great Content to Come
Hard to believe over 2 1/2 months have passed since I launched the Home Where You Belong podcast. I’ve learned so much in such a short time and met some wonderful people with amazing stories to share along the way. Including my introductory recording, I’ve released 12 episodes to date with guests including authors, a builder, a genealogist, a podcast host and a motivational speaker. I also had the pleasure of interviewing some great neighbors, a home organizer, social club manager, and a man who is committed to ending homelessness in Tennessee.
As expected, I’m learning that home means different things to different people. Residing in a great neighborhood (like I do!) is a definite plus, but others are just as happy living in a treehouse in the country or with life on the road in an RV. I’m also learning that wherever you call home, developing strong relationships is key to cultivating a sense of belonging.
So, what’s next? First, I’m taking a week or two off to line up future guests and put together a “recording studio” at home. I’ve already scheduled interviews with two best-selling authors:
Architect Donald Rattner, author of My Creative Space: How to Design Your Home to Stimulate Ideas and Spark Innovation
Leadership Coach Chad Peevy, author of Break and Untangle, which focuses on how to be yourself despite the inherited mindsets holding you back
I still plan on recording some episodes at Common House and The Studio at Chattanooga Public Library, but having a studio at home — OK, it’s more like a revamped storage closet — will give me some much needed flexibility. I’m attaching foam panels to the walls to help with soundproofing, so with any luck it should muffle the abrasive metal-on-metal sound of the trains that pass by my house on an hourly basis. I’m a bit claustrophobic, though, so I don’t plan on staying in the closet too long. I worked too hard to come out of one years ago! :)
It may take a few weeks to get back to my weekly posting schedule, but I will get there as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can keep up with the latest news through these weekly e-mail updates and by following our social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram. If you’re enjoying the podcast, please tell your friends about us and leave us a rating and review wherever you listen to podcasts. Also, if you have any feedback or ideas for potential episode topics/guests, please e-mail me at chip@homewhereyoubelong.com. I’d love to hear from you!
